Outreach in El Cerrito, CA (2022-2024)

From 2022 to 2024, I volunteered with the Miller Institute at UC Berkeley, co-leading outreach efforts that brought post-docs from the Miller Institute into the classroom at El Cerrito High School. The post-docs represented a diverse range of academic backgrounds, including astronomy, geology, computer science, physics, statistics, biology, and chemistry. During these outreach events, post-docs would hold breakout sessions with high school students to demonstrate essential and exciting concepts in their fields. After the demo sessions, students would have the opportunity to ask follow-up questions about careers in science. These events took place regularly over two years, providing access to cutting-edge science for dozens of high school students from underserved communities in El Cerrito.
